Immediate danger: call 911. DKCSC is a peer community, not an emergency service.

Need somewhere to sleep?

Call 211. Say: “I have nowhere safe to sleep tonight. I am in ____. What is available, and how can I get there?” Ask about space, check-in time, ID, pets and accessibility before traveling. A referral does not guarantee a bed.

Young, on your own, or leaving foster care?

National Runaway Safeline: 1-800-786-2929. Free, 24/7 support; you do not have to have run away. Their website offers chat. Ask about youth drop-in centers and local aftercare or housing support.

Food and everyday needs

Findhelp searches local services by ZIP. Feeding America lists food banks. Food Not Bombs connects you with local food-sharing groups. Confirm hours and the meal location before going.

Naloxone and backup

Never Use Alone: 800-484-3731. The operator asks for your location and can send EMS if you stop responding. NEXT Distro offers routes to naloxone and supplies; eligibility varies. Someone unresponsive or not breathing normally? Call 911 now.

Your dog is family, too

Pets of the Homeless lists pet-food resources and offers an application for emergency veterinary assistance. Contact the organization about eligibility and availability.

Ask the road family

Post your town, what you need or can share, and when. Keep exact sleeping spots and private details off public posts. You can decline an offer. Group membership is not a background check; help and replies are not guaranteed.
