DKCSC / NOMAD TRAIL — KEEP THE FIRE GOING Full website package · 26 October 2026 THIS IS THE COMPLETE SITE PACKAGE The root contains the existing DKCSC resource site, downloads, maps, gallery and assets. The redesigned full game is in nomad-trail/. This replaces the separate small camp prototype as the basis for further work. CLOUDFLARE Keep your current deployment and source ZIP as a backup. Extract this ZIP and upload the complete contents, with index.html at the upload root. No build command is needed. Game address: /nomad-trail/. This package has not been published to your live domain. WHAT CHANGED - A redesigned opening and a five-chapter, ten-scene road story. - A first-night plan with privacy and foster-care transition choices. - Shoestring (Mark Nichols) as a memorial character you meet. - Consent, anti-discrimination, nonviolent antifascist solidarity and shared power. - A gathering-inspired council: concerns, revision, consent, stand-aside, objection and review. - Climate exposure: heat, smoke, cold rain and flood closures; weather refuge and planning. - A clear action area with care, travel, people and learning filters; secondary systems in expandable panels. - An always-available downloadable field guide: 36 learning cards plus 10 practical sections. - Maple young-leaf knowledge with identification and food-value limits. - Existing travel modes, cities, characters, artwork, music, camp activities, resource downloads and save tools retained. SAVES The full game keeps nomad-trail-v1 and its backup key. Previous full-game journeys are migrated and new story state is added. Export before changing devices or domains. Import validates your JSON before loading. Browser clearing can erase saves. The separate miniature camp prototype used nomadCampSave; its saves are a different format and do not import into the full game. PLAY & OFFLINE The full game uses JavaScript modules: serve it over HTTP(S), rather than double-clicking index.html. For local use with Python installed: from the extracted site folder run python3 -m http.server 8000, then visit http://localhost:8000/nomad-trail/. This needs no internet once local files are present, but external resource links do. This release is not an installed offline PWA. The downloadable field-guide.html and existing PDFs can be read separately offline. Test your chosen device before traveling. CLIMATE MODEL Game hazards use a repeating teaching schedule, not live weather or a scientifically calibrated regional model. Heat uses extra water/energy, smoke causes health loss, cold rain causes exposure, and flood closures block travel. Weather refuge takes one day and protects against extra exposure on the next game day. Normal daily upkeep still applies. Real-world decisions require current local warnings and conditions. CARE AND MEMORIALS This educational game cannot guarantee that it will save a life or replace hands-on training, clinical care, local plant identification or real resource verification. Existing learning cards have been retained; they have not all received a new clinical review. New climate and first-night material links its sources. The narrative has no real calls, referrals, reservations or posts. Memorial encounters are and do not claim to reproduce actual words or endorsements. No new likeness or voice of Shoestring is included. KEEP THE FIRE GOING Name two trusted maintainers. Arrange independent hosting access and domain renewal/recovery privately. Keep the complete site ZIP and approved source assets in two independent places. Test a restoration to a spare project. Record permissions for images and stories. Build a separate opt-in contact channel; do not publish private group posts or member data without consent. A saved game/site is not a backup of the Facebook community. VALIDATION Core tests cover old-save migration, every story, council alternatives, replay rewards, flood blocks, heat/refuge effects, fatal smoke exposure, camp entry and existing actions. Browser checks cover startup and the first-night story. This is a playable redesign release, not exhaustive long-run balancing or a completed independent medical review.
